Page with Marrakech Weather Forecast for your information about the city of Marrakech. The weather in Marrakech is very good as it is almost sunny al year round. Apart from some rainy days, Marrakechi in general is a warm and hot city. Winter days like around December and January bring your jacket along as nights will be chilling.

During the summer you’ll get intense heat, but the tiny streets of the old Medina of Marrakech will get you cool in the shadow, also during the warmest period of the day, stay at your Marrakech riad and chill out, profit from a cold drink and read a book before you go out again and explore the hot city.

About the Koutoubia Mosque: this most photographed Marrakech monument is the landmark of the Red City. Marrakech most famous monuments dates back from the 12th century. The Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech is the largest mosque in Marrakech and its minaret was completed under the reign of the Almohad Caliph.

The tower of the Koutoubia is 69 m (221 ft) height and has a lateral length of 12.8 m (41 ft). Very tall building that on a clear day can be seen as far as 30km (18 miles) of distance. The Koutoubia is built following Hispano-Moorish architecture and its name comes from “libraries”.

The mosque was ordered by the Sultan Abd el-Moumen. It tells the legend that the 4 balls on top of the minaret came from the melted gold of Zineb, the wife of Youssef ben Tachfine. This mosque and the minaret facade served as model to the famous Giralda tower in Seville, Spain.

<img src="http://www.riad-to-marrakech.com/site/images/2012/03/marrakech-saints.jpg" style="float:right;margin-left:16px;margin-bottom:7px;border: 1px solid sienna; alt="Marrakech Monuments" />Marrakech Saints: the seven patron Saints of Marrakech are for everyday of the week.
Sultan Moulay Ismail made this pilgrimage to Marrakech saints called ziara official and institutionalized. The ziara pilgrimage of the tombs of the Seven Patron Saint of Marrakech makes pilgrims visit the seven patron saints each day in one of the mausoleums called zaouias.
